Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines massage cream or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation, which in turn improves the function of all of the systems of the body. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, better sleep and greater flexibility.

Swedish Massage is performed on the massage table. You will be asked to disrobe (you may leave panties or underware on if you prefer). I will step out for a moment (generally into a bathroom, other room or outside, depending on where we set up) to wash up and allow you privacy while you get under the top sheet and comfortably on the table. If you need assistance, don't worry, I know draping techniques that will get you into place while still protecting your privacy.  The top sheet is used to cover all parts of the body except the part that is being massaged.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. It uses similar movements as Swedish Massage, but with much deeper and more concentreted pressure. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the intense nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't become uncomfortable, and the session is limited to 90 minutes maximum. Keep in mind that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Portable Hot Stone Massage

Portable Hot Stone Massage is a style of massage where a portable, heated (battery operated) ceramic stone is used to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with this stone release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

You may choose to have me spend extra time, concentrating one of these often neglected areas.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Chair Massage is very effective in treating upper body pain such as shoulders, neck and rotator cuff problems.

Reflexology Face Lift Massage

The Reflexology Face Lift massage combines light compression and tapping across 17 different reflex points on the face. This treatment stimulates cirrculation and oxygen supply to the skin and cells, allowing for radiance and smoothness. The Reflexology Face Lift can restore muscle tone and prevent lines, wrinkles and sagging.  For optimal results, this treatment should take about 50 minutes, and should be performed several times a week. You may choose to incorporate the full 50 minutes into your Result Driven Massage, or try the Mini-lift which takes about half the time. I am pleased to provide a map of the reflex points as well as instruction for self homecare with each treatment.

Did you know the sense of smell is the most cognitive of the senses? Different scents and aromas can effect one's mood in different ways. Ever caught just a whiff of something familiar that took you back to a place in your memory? Aromatherapy can be applied to the space around you with my portable difusser. I offer a range of essential oils to choose from:

  • Lavender - evokes feelings of calmness and serenity
  • Eucaliptus - medicinal, helps clear breathing
  • Sweet Orange - energizing, uplifting
  • Clary Sage - relaxing, euphoric

Swe-Thai Massage

Swe-Thai Massage combines the ancient eastern practice of Thai Massage with proven and highly effective western Swedish Massage techniques. Traditional Thai Massage is sometimes called 'lazy man's yoga' because the therapist will use hands, knees, legs, and feet to move the client into a series of postures and stretches, designed to work along energy lines in the body. While traditional Thai Massage is done on a mat, Swe-Thai Massage is done on a table. It involves a good amout of stretching accompanied with compression and deep pressure and may require me to get up onto the table to be able to achieve the desired position and force. Swe-Thai Massage is a great way to release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home. Swe-Thai Massage is my current area of study. Although I am not fully certified in this modality, I have taken several of the classes, taught by Margie Mashew, the creator of Swe-Thai Massage, and I am able to incorporate many elements into your result driven massage!

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression. I am not fully trained in the practice of reflexology, but I am able to incorporate some of the elements that I am farmiliar with into your massage.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain. Although I am not fully trained in myofacial massage, I am familair with and able to incorporate some elements of  this modality into your result driven massage.
